OREGON - Wood component and millwork manufacturer Bright Wood has laid off more than 200 workers from factories in Redmond and Madras, Oregon.

The company says the layoffs were triggered by a sharp decline in customer demand taking place soon after the coronavirus pandemic began. Over two months, 211 employees were eliminated, reports the Oregonian.

Founded in 1960, the family-owned Bright Wood is one of central Oregon's largest employers, with more than 1,000 workers on the payroll. The company makes wooden components for windows and doors.
